God blesses those who realize their need for him. Matthew 5:3

Luke had a spinal tap yesterday that showed he has meningitis (inflammation of the meninges ~ the membrane lining of the brain and spinal cord). Group B streptococcus is the type of infection that was found in my placenta and amniotic fluid and we are told that this is what caused the meningitis. He is receiving 3 different IV antiboitics and this treatment will continue for the next 2 weeks. His bilirubin is elevated so he spends most of his time under the fluorescent lamps and appears content with his little eye mask on. Luke is making remarkable progress and given the circumstances we are very optimistic. He is breathing on his own with stable vital signs and receiving tube feedings every 3 hours with excellent absorption. He is a very active 5 day old baby and we are encouraged by everything the doctors and nurses are telling us. Please continue to pray that God will be with us and Luke...we believe in Him and know that he is a faithful God.
